West Ham picked up three much needed points and eased the pressure on David Moyes by beating Wolves 2-0- at home.
Kehrer playing RB position for West Ham and Dawson at CB alongside Zouma
LCB, RCB and now RB- Thilo Kehrer is a versatile player and started at right back here against Wolves. It’s his third different position in the backline for the Hammers (having earlier played both LCB and RCB for them as mentioned above), but looking at his individual performance and the team’s, it might also end up being his long term spot.
Both Toumas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen had very good games today- perhaps their best for the Hammers in the league this season, and it’s probably no coincidence because they played on the same right side of the pitch as Kehrer. Vladimir Coufal has struggled to recapture his old form while Ben Johnson, whilst competent defensively, doesn’t offer as much going forward. Kehrer possesses loads of pace, has a good pass in him and while he might be prone to the occasional mistake, seems to be a definite upgrade over Coufal and Johnson in that position currently.
For this game, West Ham paired Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma in central defence, with Kehrer on the right. They kept a clean sheet- a rarity for the Hammers this season. Yes, it might be against goal-shy Wolves, but a clean sheet is a clean sheet, after all!
