SPL fixture on November 6, 2010- Glasgow Celtic 9-0 Aberdeen.
Even by Aberdeen’s poor league standing in the league prior to this fixture, few would have expected the Dons to get a nine goal thrashing at Parkhead. But 9-0 it did end, with Celtic strikers Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper both netting hat tricks.
It took 26 minutes for Celtic’s first goal to go in, and once they started, they kept going in. Aberdeen skipper Paul Hartley saw red for the handball that lead to Celtic’s opening goal. The Hoops themselves ended with ten men following the dismissal of Thomas Rovne.
Celtic legend Henrik Larsson was present in the stands for this game and the presence of the King seemed to lift Neil Lennon’s men.
Celtic scored four in the first half and five in the second and the manner of their triumph would surely have raised questions over the future of Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee.
