O Jogo Record 24Sata Newspaper Predicted Lineup for Portugal vs Croatia 2024 Nations League

Here is a look at how the Portuguese and Croatian papers think their respective national sides will lineup for tonight’s Nations League clash.

Both O Jogo and Record concur in most aspects of the Portuguese starting XI except one- O Jogo think Joao Neves will start in midfield while Record are of the opinion that Bayern’s Joao Palhinha will partner Bruno Fernandes and Vitinha in the centre of the park.

The others players in the XI are common in both papers- Diogo Costa in goal; Nuno Mendes, Inacio, Ruben Dias and Nelson Semedo at the back, and Ronaldo, Rafael Leao and Bernardo Silva upfront.

In Croatia, 24Sata is of the opinion that they will try a 3-5-2 formation tonight against Portugal. Zlatko Dalic last employed it against Bulgaria back in 2022 and is expected to try it in the light of injuries to Stanisic and Juranovic.

Euro 2024 champions Spain return to action in the Nations League later tonight away at Serbia and here is how the big Spanish newspapers have predicted La Furia Roja to lineup.

With Unai Simon’s injury, all the papers are of the opinion that Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya will start ahead of Alex Remiro and Robert Sanchez. Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella will be on the left side of defence, with Aymeric Laporte and Robin le Normand in the centre.

Martin Zubimendi, who was widely linked with Liverpool in the summer transfer window, is expected to start in midfield.

With the news coming in that German legend Andreas Brehme has passed away, here is his most famous goal- the 1990 World Cup winning penalty for West Germany against Argentina. The Brehme penalty v Argentina came in the 85th minute after Rudi Voller had been fouled and made Franz Beckenbauer a WC manager as both player and coach (also check out this tough online Beckenbauer quiz)

Interestingly, Brehme took this 1990 WC penalty with his right foot. In the 1986 quarterfinal against Mexico, he had scored a penalty with his left foot
