This Fernando Gago injury vs Peru (GIF VIDEO BELOW) saw the Argentine star rupture his ligaments in the Albiceleste’s World Cup qualifier against Peru in Buenos Aires on 5 October, 2017. Gago suffered the injury just minutes after coming on the field as a second half substitute for Ever Banega- his first Argentine appearance in over two years.
He attempted to play on after receiving treatment, but eventually had to subbed off for Enzo Perez, meaning that both Icardi and Dybala remained on the bench for Argentina, who could not score in the game, and now run the risk of missing out on the 2018 World Cup
