Lucas Bernardi leaves AS Monaco

Argentine midfielder Lucas Bernardi has left Ligue 1 club AS Monaco after seven seasons in the Principality. Bernardi arrived at Monaco from Marseille in 2001, and made 228 appearances for Les Rouge et Blanc. A defensive midfielder, known for his commitment and hard work in the centre of the park, Bernardi was part of the Monaco side that won the 2003 French Cup. He was also part of the side that lost the 2004 Champions League final to Jose Mourinho’s FC Porto.

Bernardi is likely to return to Newell’s Old Boys, the club where he made his name before leaving for France.

Etoile Du Sahel sign Everson Pereira da Silva

Tunisian giants Etoile Du Sahel have announced the signing of Brazilian midfielder Everson Pereira da Silva. The 33 year old, who primarily plays on the left side of midfield, has signed a one year contract with the club. Everson was released by Xamax last year, and had recently completed a successful trial with Etoile Du Sahel.

CFR Cluj sign Paolo Frangipane

Romanian club CFR Cluj Napoca have signed Argentine midfielder Paolo Frangipane from Colombian side Deportivo Cali.

Frangipane, 29, is the 7th Argentine player at Cluj. Sebastián Dubarbier, Sixto Peralta, Cristian Sánchez Prette, Emmanuel Culio, Gustavo Oberman and Diego Ruiz are the other six with the Romanian giants.

Cluj , who gave Chelsea and Roma a real run for their money in this season’s Champions League, recently sacked their Italian coach Maurizio Trombetta.
