Of the three promoted teams, only one (Braunschweig) went back immediately. Braunschweig, Osnabruck and Wurzburger Kickers were the three teams that had been relegated from 2.Bundesliga at the end of the 2020/21 season.

There was therefore a second consecutive relegation in Germany for Wurzburger Kickers (from Bundesliga 2 to 3.Liga at the end of 20/21, and from 3.Liga to the Regional League at the end of this 21/22 season)

Here is the new Bundesliga match ball for the 2022/23 football season- the Derbystar Select. This new matchball was officially unveiled on May 19, 2022.

The Bundesliga’s most recent association with Derbystar as its football supplier began in the 2018/19 season. This original Bundesliga Derbystar contract was for four seasons (till the end of the 2021/22 season) and both parties recently inked an extension to the deal, taking it through 2026.
