2017 Africa Cup of Nations finalists confirmed- Nigeria, South Africa & Zambia miss out

The final list of sixteen teams to compete at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2017) has been confirmed, and there are some big names missing, with both 2012 champions Zambia and 2013 champions Nigeria failing to qualify for the tournament. Another team to miss out are South Africa’s Bafana, although they’ve consistently under performed in recent years. Two of Africa’s biggest economies not qualifying will be a bit of a blow to the tournament and its marketing team.

Uganda were surprise qualifiers, making it to their first tournament in nearly 40 years.

The tournament will see the return of erstwhile powerhouses Egypt, who made their last appearance in 2010 as well as Zimbabwe, who will be seen at the finals for the first time in over a decade

Ivory Coast vs Ghana 2015 AFCON Final Penalties Video 9-8- CIV Golden Generation finally win trophy

Ivory Coast’s golden generation finally ended their hunt for a trophy as they edged Ghana in a penalty shootout to be crowned African Champions in Bata. The game, played on 8 February, 2015 was goalless till extra time and went to penalties. Ghana converted their first two penalties, while Ivory Coast missed their first two. However the Black Stars missed their next two, and both teams were tied at 3-3 after five penalties, leading to sudden death.

Five penalties were then converted by both teams before Razak Brimah missed for Ghana, and Cote d’Ivoire goalkeeper Boubacar Barry held his nerve as the Elephants clinched AFCON 2015

DR Congo vs Equatorial Guinea Penalties AFCON 2015 3rd place- Back flip Kidiaba Bum Dance Video

DR Congo goalkeeper Robert Kidiaba has become quite famous for his little bum dance, and the 39 year old performed it for the last time when his nation beat hosts Equatorial Guinea on penalties to clinch third place at the Africa Cup of Nations. Kidiaba even did a back flip on his OWN line during the shootout (which keeper have you seen doing that before?), and Javier Balboa missed a decisive initial penalty for the hosts
