Here is a look at the final 2.Bundesliga (German second division) and 3.Liga (German third division) league table for the 21/22 season, and the teams that got promoted for the upcoming 2022/23 season and relegated at the end of the current campaign.

Of the three promoted teams, only one (Braunschweig) went back immediately. Braunschweig, Osnabruck and Wurzburger Kickers were the three teams that had been relegated from 2.Bundesliga at the end of the 2020/21 season.

There was therefore a second consecutive relegation in Germany for Wurzburger Kickers (from Bundesliga 2 to 3.Liga at the end of 20/21, and from 3.Liga to the Regional League at the end of this 21/22 season)

There were immediate relegations for Dresden and Ingolstadt, both of whom had been promoted from 3.Liga at the end of the 2020/2021 season. The third promoted team from 20/21 (Hansa Rostock) managed to preserve its 2.Bundesliga status.
