Very, very tight one. You could essentially pick a static image to justify your point, which is what I think fans from both clubs have done.
But add to this Kovacic’s red card, and a relatively soft first penalty, and you can see why Chelsea fans are aggrieved with the ref.
No it wasn’t handball.
What happened to the rule of all of the ball over all of the line ?.
If your going to have rules then they should apply it can be seen in the video when he handled the ball , all of the ball was not over all of the line, So therefore it was handball.
JOHN SOSTA is just dumb and has NO idea about how the rule works
The ball is on the line so it is inside the box
It is considered outside the box only if ALL parts of the ball are outside of the box and not touching the line
What of Him self out of the box before the hand in the box…
Whole Goallie and ball outside
The goalie can’t be outside the box and handle ball inside the box. That’s also a red.
That’s sooooo close, and yes, as a Cheslea fan, we feel we got robbed on a few calls.
1. Xhaka (sp?) on the Kovacic’s 1st yellow didn’t play the ball, he stepped over the ball, and with cleats up mind you..If he made contact with Kovacic’s, it would of surely been a RED card, Kovacic’s is trying to play the ball the whole time. The south American step over to block the oppositions foot should never be a yellow card as the player isn’t playing the ball, he’s playing the man / body / leg.
2. In this case, you can’t have it both ways FIFA, I know the rule states this..but then don’t call it a 18yr box, it’s a 17.5 yr box. If the ball has to go over the WHOLE of the line THEN it should be the same for the GOALIE with his hands on the ball.. if he is holding the ball on the line, then that 18yr is the fence, as stupid as this sounds! that’s just my lateral thinking! Ohhh and most professional goalies let the ball hit the first hand to soften the catch..meaning his left hand touched the ball while it was outside the box, both hands full grasp on the line. Just saying!
Part II – that last yellow on Kovacic’s was soft AF, Xhaka went down like Puss, cleats weren’t up, he went for the ball and in a FINAL for a referee to change the game with an incidental small foul like that, bad game management!
3. Aubameyang – soft penalty, VAR should see that he threw his body up. No way a few fingers on his collarbone could of caused that fake launch.
I’m sure there were Chelsea fouls too, but…here’s the AHA moment where the REF shows his true ‘RED’ colors.. biased AF
Chelsea had nine fouls at half time to Arsenal’s zero. The match ended at two and 14 fouls. It is nearly impossible to play over 100 minutes of football (thanks added time) and have just two fouls.
On a positive, Arsenal will be yet another English club in Europe and where this can help us and other top teams, is that in doing so THEY wont JUST be concentrating on the league, they will be like the other top 7 clubs who ALSO have to worry about travelling and more games with injuries. Otherwise, they could ONLY focus on the league and be fresh unlike the other top 7 teams, just my $0.02 cents!
