Spanish giants Barcelona have confirmed that Arsenal will be their opponents for the annual Joan Gamper Trophy game that will be played on 4 August this year at the Nou Camp.
Since the Gamper Trophy game reverted to a two-team format in 1997, only one Premier League team has been involved in this fixture, and that was Manchester City back in 2009 (City won 1-0 on that occasion). Barca’s most recent opponents (in 2018) were South American side Boca Juniors, who were beaten 3-0.
The Trofeo Gamper fixture will be Arsenal’s final pre-season game ahead of the 19/20 season. Other pre-season opponents for the Gunners include the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Olympique Lyonnais.
Barca are unbeaten in the last six Gamper Trophy games- the last team to beat them were Sampdoria back in 2012.
