Claude Puel was NOT on the tragic helicopter that claimed several lives (including that of the Leicester chairman Vichai Srivaddhnaprabha) after an Agusta plane crashed after takeoff following the Leicester-West Ham game on 27 October, 2018
Who has confirmed that Puel was not on board the helicopter?
Gregory Campi, the Monaco coach close to Puel’s family, has confirmed that he was not on board, according to several reports this morning from French newspapers (see Nice Matin). Other major journalists, such as James Sharpe, have also said he wasn’t on board, to the best of their knowledge. Some other reports suggested that Puel accompanied Daniel Amartey, the Leicester player who suffered a major injury, to hospital.
How did the rumours of Puel being on the plane start?
There were several old photos and videos circulating (the plane taking off the King Power ground is a common occurrence), but one news report in the Beeb suggested that the Leicester manager may have been on board, leading to rumours spreading.

Great to hear that Puel is safe. Leicester fans may have had disagreements regarding his tactics, but NO ONE would’ve wished for him to be on that chopper.
