Barcelona have informed the trio of Arda Turan, Thomas Vermaelen and Aleix Vidal that they are surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp and are free to leave in January.
All three have made sparing appearances for the Blaugrana since transferring to the Nou Camp, especially defender Vermaelen, who has also struggled with injury. Nevertheless, the former Arsenal star was one of Belgium’s star performers at the last European Championships, and is seeking more game time with one eye on the upcoming World Cup in Russia. If he can remain fit, he would certainly be a target for several mid tier English teams, despite being on the wrong side of 30.
Vidal has had more opportunities this season, but Barca fans are of the opinion that he doesn’t exactly fit into their system of possession oriented football.
Turan has been a disappointment since moving from Atletico, but is reportedly the target of a Chinese club, although whether the midfielder wants to move to the Far East is another question altogether.
Barcelona are undefeated in the league after 11 rounds and have a four point lead over second place Valencia, and are eight ahead of arch rivals Real Madrid.
