Former Blackburn Rovers striker Kalinic has put pen to paper a contract that will keep him at the San Siro till 2021. He comes Milan’s 11th signing of the summer after Leonardo Bonucci, Andre Silva, Andrea Conti, Hakan Calhanoglu, Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez, Lucas Biglia, Franck Kessie, Antonio Donnarumma and Fabio Borini.
Kalinic will however not be in the squad to face Macedonian outfit Shkendija in the second leg of their Europa League tie. Milan hold a 6-0 advantage from the first leg, with progress all but assured for the Rossoneri.
Apart from Blackburn, Kalinic also represented Hajduk in his native Croatia and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine before joining Fiorentina.
Milan let Carlos Bacca go on loan to Villarreal last week, and Fiorentina’s signing of Giovanni Simeone from Genoa paved the way for Kalinic’s move to the San Siro. However for Viola fans, this represents a third major sale this summer- they’ve already let Federico Bernardeschi and Matias Vecino go to Juventus and Inter respectively for a combined sum of 64 million euros (40+24)
Milan opened their league campaign with a 3-0 win away at Crotone.
