Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are to set to be the other three teams to participate in the biennial Audi Cup that will be hosted by German giants Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena later this summer.
Milan will take part if they don’t have any continental commitments in the form of qualifiers for the Europa League, but on paper, that’s a pretty tasty Cup lineup arranged by Audi- certainly more “heavyweights” than the Emirates Cup that will have Sevilla, Benfica, Leipzig and Arsenal.
Liverpool will become the fourth English club to take part in the Audi Cup after Man United, Man City and Tottenham. The Audi Cup has been won by Bayern in three of the four years it’s taken place, with Barcelona’s triumph in 2011 being the exception. Milan are the only other team to have taken part in all four edition, but their record isn’t anything to crow about- they’ve finished last thrice, and third once.
