South American giants Brazil and Argentina will square off in a blockbuster friendly at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on June 9, 2017 (Friday 8pm) as part of the Chevrolet Global tour. Tickets for the same will go on sale to the general public on 21 February, 2017 (12pm). Telstra will however have a 48 hour pre-sale from 15-17 February.
The two teams are currently ranked first and second in the world (Argentina 1st with 1635, Brazil 2nd with 1529) and this will be their first meeting outside South America since October 2014, when Brazil won 2-0 in Beijing. They also played in New Jersey in 2012, a fixture which Argentina won 4-3.
If Lionel Messi plays, this will be his first appearance on Australian soil in almost a decade, having represented the Albiceleste when they beat the Socceroos back in September 2007.
