Sevilla created a little bit of history in their weekend clash (September 17, 2016) against Eibar by becoming the first La Liga club to field a starting 11 with NO Spanish players. The all-foreign starting team had four Argentines, three French players and one each from Italy, Japan, Portugal and Brazil.
However Los Rojiblancos coach Jorge Sampaoli had three Spanish players coming off the bench, and the first of them, Sergio Escudero, made an appearance as early as the 14th minute as a substitute for Adil Rami.
