Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to invest a little over $40 million (USD) into a partnership with the Pestana Hotel Group that will see four “CR7” branded hotels come up in different parts of the world. The total investment into the hotels is $81 million, with both parties splitting investments on a 50-50 basis, as announced by Dionisio Pestana.
The four new CR7 hotels will come up in Madeira (where Ronaldo was born), the Portuguese capital city of Lisbon (where he played for Sporting), Madrid (current club-Real Madrid) and New York, which has been touted as a potential destination for the forward if he decides to end his active playing career in Europe.
The Madeira CR7 hotel is expected to come up in the summer of 2016, followed by the Lisbon one and then the Madrid one, which has been given a 2017 date.
The Pestana group, like Ronaldo, are from Madeira, and have an annual turnover of $240 million, and have 87 hotels across Europe, Africa and America.
There was no UK destination announced for a CR7 hotel, but the choice of New York, will add more fuel to the rumours that Ronaldo will definitely play in the MLS, with the striker also having purchased an apartment in the Big Apple earlier this year.
