Referee’s assistant David Bryan ( VIDEO BELOW) was hit by a smoke bomb thrown from the stands by Spurs fans celebrating Andros Townsend’s opener in THFC’s away fixture against Aston Villa on October 20, 2013. Bryan however was fit enough to continue his duties .

The smoke bomb was thrown from the Spurs section of the crowd after England winger Andros Townsend had put the Lilywhites ahead. The police eventually stepped in and took the fan out of the stadium.

Why are smoke bombs and flares allowed into stadiums anyway?

They aren’t allowed, but that doesn’t stop fans from sneaking them in and using them.
