Brilliant crowd, and even better rendition of YNWA.
Well done Melbourne.
Suarez sets up the goal, but doesn’t look as if he enjoyed it at all.
I acknowledge that the attendance of 95,446 is a massive number of people, however as for being a record for football game in Australia this claim is totally miss leading. I was in attendance at the 1970 Collingwood Vs. Carlton Grandfinal (REAL FOOTBALL as far as the majority of Australians or Melbournians are concerned) and that is listed on the official stats as having attracted 121,696 and there has been 20 other “REAL FOOTBALL GAMES” that eclipse last nights attendances, not to mention the Olympic Games & the couple of Religious Events that exceed this claim by 10% or more !
Claims that records are achieved, need to be QUALIFIED and I’ll accept that this is a GENUINE RECORD for a Round Ball Game played on a Wednesday Night, between two clubs that partcipate in a low scoring game that can even be played by girls.
Well I missed most of the first half, caught most of the second half when I wasn’t on the iPad……..yes, it was not that exciting a match. This Liverpool team is not one of their better assemblages. The Victory played very well (big statement from a Sydneysider) against such an overwhelming and legendary club. And you Melbournians are a strange bunch. The Victory is your home team and all I could see was a red blanket across the stadium. Why would you support Liverpool over your own home team? So they may as well have been playing away given the lack of support. A fairer result would have been a draw but that’s football.
Gerard……..what an unemotional bore he turned out to be, both on and off the field. I found the whole thing a bit of a let down. Well done Victory. You played well and didn’t deserve to lose this one.
Stephen, they’re not talking about afl record attendance, they’re taking about football or in other words “soccer”. Of course AFL blitz it most years in finals etc. read, make sense of the story before you speak you
And no one was talking about the Olympics as well.. Man… Stephen, Stephen, Stephen… Get your life together mate
