Three brilliant finishes from Sturridge.
First one is my personal favourite.
Great match! But again against a weak team. It seems we are able to produce “outstanding” performances against weak teams.
If Liverpool is to fight for top 4 next season, they need to improve in the following areas:
URGENT REINFORCEMENT (to make us top 4 contenders)
– 1 or 2 Central Defender(s): Toby Alderweireld / Williams / Illori / Dede / De Vrij
– 1 Fullback: Lucas Digne
– 1 Defensive Midfield: Diame or Stroodman
– 2 Wingers: Tello / Ince / Ben Arfa
FURTHER IMPROVEMENT (to make us title contenders and for continuity)
– Gerrard longterm replacement: Eriksen
– Center forward: Martinez / Remy / Gameiro
– Goalkeeper: Alex McCarthy
– 1 or 2 Central Defender(s): Illori / De Vrij
Rodgers will only have reported kitty of 25 million this summer. He will have to sell some players:
– Carroll to either Newcastle or West Ham in player exchange + money for Diame or Ben Arfa
– Downing to the highest bidder
– If possible upgrade on Borini and Skrtl
25 million kitty + 8-10 millions for Downing + Player exchange or 17 millions for Carroll = roughly 45 – 50 millions. This should be enough to buy Williams (10), Illori(3.5), Digne(8), Diame(5), Tello(8.5) and Ince(12). Shall we sell Borini(8) and Skrtl(15), we could easily fund transfers for Remy(5) and Eriksen(20).
Our TOP 4 team could look like:
Striker: Suarez / Sturidge / Borini or Remy
Wingers: Tello / Ince / Sterling
Attacking Midfield: Coutinho / Eriksen
Central Midfiend: Gerrard / Henderson / Shelvey
Defensive Midfield: Diame / Lucas / Allen
Fullbacks: Johnson / Digne / Enrique / Robinson
Central Defense: Alderweireld / Agger / Illori / Skrtl
Goalkeeper: Reina
I firmly believe that our lack of consistency is due to lack of competition in the team. When you see players looking uninterested on the field from time to time it means that they are only doing what they can or at times their best. Our players should “FIGHT FOR THEIR LIVES” all the time!! Having 2 top players for every position is a must!
What are your thoughts?
@lfcfan, very good on paper, but why should somebody like Digne come to Anfield when you cannot offer him European football and when there are other clubs having CL football under their belt willing to take him?
And some of the folks you’ve mentioned are either young or have no experience of Prem football. Ex Ilori, Digne and De Vrij. Good talents but it’ll take them atleast a season or two to settle down. Not sure they’d get Liverpool to the top four immediately. Someone like Chris Samba would be good IMO, as QPR’ve got relegated. Agger and Skrtel have been liabilities as a defensive partnership.
There are no weak teams in the premier league.
Did you not watch the FA cup final?
Who’s the better signing: Sturridge or Coutinho? Hard to choose. Coutinho has played wonderful and can create something out of nothing with his foot skills and splendid passing. Sturridge can get into perfect attacking positions and, while he can be a little selfish, he also has the brilliance to play playmaker. Wonderful signings be BR
