This Vincent Kompany red card vs Arsenal ( VIDEO BELOW) in Man City’s 2-0 win over the Gunners on 13 January, 2013 left opinions deeply divided regarding Mike Dean’s decision to send off the Belgian defender. While Kompany did win the ball, the two footed nature of his challenge probably lead to Dean red carding him.

Harsh but can see why it was given
Interesting to see the result of the appeal.
Look at the way Kompany is coming towards him with both feet off the ground, easily could been much worse for Wilshere. No doubt for me.
In every sliding challenge there is a point where both feet are off the ground. First thought on seeing this one was red for me, but the first replay shows it best. One leg in front, foot never higher than the ball, other leg starts folded back – seems no intent to me, and to judge it as a two-footed jump would be harsh
