  1. Friggin shite, how did they get Devic’s disallowed goal wrong?

Ukraine outplayed England and still go out with nothing

  2. Amen to that Rich

Gerrard should probably be given more greater attacking freedom against Spain which is a game I believ we can genuinely win

  3. England vs Italy
    Spain vs France

2 mouth watering quarter finals check uefa.com to see for yourself!

  4. @ Grayson, you’re see you saw the same match? Ukraine bossed possession, had more attempts ( albeit wayward ones) and corners.

A more resourceful team would’ve put England to the cleaners.

  5. The goal that never was was offside, it should never have got that far! Jeez, I can’t believe that people are bleating that the goal wasn’t given when a massive offside was missed just a few seconds earlier!

  6. Offsides are always sometimes called, sometimes not. It’s just Part of the game. But the goal still should have counted. People still score from being offsides. It happens. But the extra official standing on the line is there for one reason, to say whether the ball went in or not, and it clearly went in.

  7. Yes but just like the goal that went in, the offside was a missed call and if you are going to count one thing then you must count the other as it applies to the same circumstances. Devic was offside so before you say that the goal ‘should have’ counted it really shouldn’t have.

  8. Regardless of goals being aloud Ukraine are out so there’s no use crying over spilt milk! We English will take Italy over Spain any day!

  9. Fair does the Ukraine goal did go in but watch the footage properly I do believe you call it OFFSIDE therefore ENGLAND won fair and square. so don’t try leaving any shite that England shouldn’t have won

  10. I think the commentator on the Daily Motion video was a bit unfair to the Ukrainian goalie when Rooney scored. The goalie missed the ball because it took a slight deflection off a defender just before it got to him.

And then of course there was the disallowed goal. Still, I’m really chuffed that England is in the quarter-finals.

  11. Sorry guys. You agree or disagree but peole all over rhe world saw a GOAL into English gates but the STUPID JUDGE didn’t!!!!!!!! What are the rules of soccer then????

  12. I can’t believe that people are still discussing the disallowed goal, if you were watching the whole game and also understand the rules then you would see that the Ukrainian player was offside to start with so justice was done in the end. Two wrongs did make a right in this instance.

  13. I was watching he whole game, and as far as I know as soon as the judge sees the offside he should whistle, shouldn’t he??? Legal UKRAINIAN goal and illegal victory of the English team. Ukrainians support their team anyway. Especcially when they show their character (as they did during the last match) ????? ???????!

  14. I don’t think intelligent people would call people they’ve never seen “stupid”… Let’s be fair: who was better in this match???

  15. The offside is about 10 yards inside England’s half and was quite an easy one for the linesman to give.

  16. How can you say it was a legal Ukrainian goal when your guy was, I MEAN REALLY WAS (FACT!!) about a yard offside when the ball was played to him, it is there for everyone to see, it actually happened, I’m not lying I’ve watched 10 replays so far and he is offside in every single one of them. Just because the linesman didn’t put his flag up doesn’t mean he got the decision correct, if he had done then we wouldn’t be having this debate. Oh and by the way, the referee also missed a stone wall penalty which should have been given to England when Andy Carroll was shoved in the back inside the penalty area.

  17. Well we all know that dis english side s bullsh**
Refree shud have given that goal….nd for those people who think their english side is capable of winning this tournament…..bitch please…this ain’t gonna happen….italy is one of the strongest contenders this yr…..nd ur team….as told u earlier…is BULLSH**….!!

  18. ENG- 3 Good Attempts on targets – 1 SCORED. UKR – 2 attempts on target, none scored. WHO DOMINATED? – ALL SCOTTISH and IRISH commenting here NEED TO GET (SKILLS) AND A LIFE!

  19. he was in passive offside and goal is legal, referee was blind, but now it doesn’t matter Ukraine played better game than England. And just luck helped Roonie to score…

  20. You’re trying to persuade (cheat) not only me, but all world! Only the ones who didn’t want to see this goak really didn’t see it. Good luck, England. But our guys deserve this victory.

  21. KRV get over yourself please. I’m pretty sure that England scored one goal fair and square also had a definite penalty not given. All Ukraine did is have a goal disallowed which should have been given offside way before they got anywhere the goal, and before any Ukrainians start again yes it was OFFSIDE, I have seen it again and he still in an offside position when the ball was played.

  22. MARK, could you please explain what you mean by passive offside. I’m pretty sure the guy who initially took the ball (not the goalscorer) when it was played forward was offside so that is offside to me.

  23. @Olly:
Sometimes try to read and not just write. See what Mark wrote:
    “mark June 20, 2012 12:45 pm
    he was in passive offside”

  24. Shameful victory for England. Ukraine was clearly stronger. I hope England will take off quickly from the euro

  25. England bought the 5th referee…… IMO,,,,, They will never ever be a champion…. IMO….

  26. Cheers for our english team’s luck but I wasn’t impressed of the way they played, plus Rooney missed out lots of attempts with simple heads and the line referee should be fired from UEFA, how blind could he be for not counting the offside neither the Ukrainian legal goal! But to be honest if Shevshenko wasn’t knee injured and played since the beginning of the game and they had a fair judges Ukraine would’ve won the game Ukr 2-1 Eng. I’m happy for us being in the quarter-finals but our boys disappointed me, I never wanted them to win this way! Ukraine played fair and way much better than our team. But as they always say tuff luck

  27. Denys,
I do read everyone’s comments before making my own but I don’t understand where he gets this passive offside idea from. Let me explain why:

    1. Passive offside is where a player can be in an offside position when the initial ball is played forward but is not initially involved in the play. They can then later become involved as long as the offside rule isn’t broken at that point.

    2. The player who scored the goal was actually onside when the ball was played forward so the passive offside rule doesn’t apply.

    3. The player who the ball was passed to initially before he passed to the goalscorer was in an offside position. There was no other defender between him and the goalkeeper so therefore he is quite simply offside.

    4. Here is the video of what happened – youtube(dot)com/watch?v=XJnLSVYY8XI
If you don’t believe me then put that address into your browser and watch it, around 6-7 seconds in is where the offside is obvious.

  28. May I intervene?… As a proud Scot… But a neutral! There is nothing more I would like to see then England get knocked out! But I think my opinion should be more relevant than anybody’s for those reasons… And the fact is… It should never have even got that far as it was clearly offiside!… The player who collected the ball was in an offside position when the pass was made!… Fact! Yes, the goal line assistant is there to tell if the ball has crossed the line or not… The same as the linesman who is there to tell if the player was onside or off!but either way it wouldn’t have made a difference… Ukraine would have still been knocked out and England would have still won the group!… It is just a case of sour grapes… Looking for an excuse for Ukraine not being a very good side I’m afraid… If they was as good as you say… Then they would have won. Oh and miroslava… As for cheating the world?.. bit excessive I think!… Because the whole world could clearly see the offside in the first place… Let it go my friend…regardless of possession You lost fair and square!

  29. Its an offside and the goal should never have happened! Fact.
Maybe the goal judge saw it like millions of other people and decided to make up for it.

I don’t understand what everyone is talking about ???England playing bad??? Did you watch the other 2 games? The 8 man back is a strategy that has this so – so English team winning games. 2 lines of 4. They used this during the other two games as well.

Lower premier league teams employ the tactic all the time and TIE and WIN games against bigger clubs. If you can’t see the goal, you can’t score!!

If you people don’t see it, I sure hope Italy thinks England stink too. They are in for a surprise if they do…

  30. And as a side note.. the tactic wears down the other side mentally and physically while conserving energy for the team using it. The Ukraine players were frustrated and yelling at each other.

Sure Ukraine looked great running around passing the ball in the middle of the field and down the sides but they had no chance against the WALL!!!!

Shevshenko wasnt fit but neither are a slew of British players that didn’t make it there.

Sorry Ukraine supportes but you are offside on this one!

  31. I thought Rooney was very poor. Carroll would have scored a lot earlier and his work rate is far higher. drop Rooney for Italy game. Gerard was brilliant and a class above all other players.

even if the Ukraine goal had been allowed we still finished top which is amazing

  32. But when Spain does it its counted 😉 … these referees are biased, luckily they’ve been banned

  33. You lost, stop crying and accept it. The ball DID cross the line, but you WERE offside, none of this ambiguous passive offside bullsh*t. You played bad because you were bad, deal with it and come back stronger.

  34. To be honest I am a fan of the English but the match they played against Ukraine was not impressive and yes Ukraine did score a legal goal but Ukraine lacked the quality to finish off the game.
