  1. Although I didn’t watch the match, but it is too bad for a small country like Peru to beat Nigeria in football. This is very shameful. I therefore advise Stephen Keshi not to rely only on home-based players. He should not neglect foreign-based players. They are very important to us please. I hope he would take this advise.

  2. I am not surprise with the result but l like the way they play l mean home base players. I think home base players are better than foreign players. So, be careful with nation cup and world cup qulities ahead. I believe with this time, thing will work out fine oooo.

  3. June is near the corner, pick few from home based and invite established ones abroad, let them blend together for a better result.

  4. kudos keshi, dont stop now.we need more international friendlies to build a strong team.its a building process and we are solidly behind you.stick to you plans and time table.

  5. Keshi countinue building d home base player, 4get about d foreign base player. I know 1 day u wil get it right.

  6. Kashi pls jst get some homebase players n som abrodbase 2 d comp so dey can blend well. Kep d gud job going.

  7. am nt happy over d defeat. How long should we suffer defeat? All we need now is stop blaming nd pray to God to bring back 9ja’s glory. The defeat should nt make Stephen feature all those our so called foreign players who only play to die in a foreign country nd play nothin for their own country. To me i prefer for us to lose than to talk about those guys forget by God. Surely we wil one day make it.

  8. ITS a shame.we are so ful of self deception.our best players are not in the NPL,they’r in the villages.most of our clubs are controled by govt, team selection completely perverted.nigeria can have 10 teams that can beat peru.afterall it is money mostly néeded to go outside not just skills.no excuses failure is failure.excuses are usually the tools of the incompetent.so keshi if u really want homebased stars walk away from NPL

  9. Altitude of Lima is 50 meters as is a seaport cit like Lagos. Peruvians don’t consider Nigeria to be a strong force but a lower rival, therefore they are not happy with the tight victory. To be Fair peru used a mix of local n foreign players and will face much stronger rivals in the south american classificatory games for World Cup. Too bad nigerian team hd to spend the night in madrid airport. That gave advantage of course, but they were given a warm welcome at their arrival in the Lima airport because some nigerians have played in Peru before n they left good friends and a good impression of professionalism and technique.

  10. Didn’t really watch the match, but i believe that with time, Keshi will build a strong team for the nations cup and the world cup. Nigeria is a marketplace for talented players and all we need is someone good enough to package them very well.

  11. Enough excuses abeg. The goal was a brilliant goal from a quick counter attack. Keshi should get things properly sorted out way ahead of time and stop making excuses….. I did not see any Naija move in the highlights of the game….haba!

  12. It’s funny how some Nigerians say that it is a shame that you lost to Peru, a country with no history in football.

Well, that’s a little funny because Peru has one of the top 10 players in history, you can look in wikepedia: Teofilo Cubillas. On the other hand, Peru finished 3rd in the last Copa America, above the likes of Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.

There are people who question a country’s skill in football solely on the number of appearances it’s made in the world cup. This is wrong as there is a huge gap in skill if we compare South America with Africa, Oceania or Asia. So, in other words, it is much more difficult to qualify for the worldcup if you’re in South America, you have to beat Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay as they’re only given 4 slots in the World Cup.

Alright… let me expose your -expected- lack of education:

    Peru: Area -Total 1,285,216 km2
    Nigeria: Area -Total 923,768 km2

Okay, so, let’s talk about being “bigger” in football terms:

    Peru:

    FIFA Ranking: 36
    ELO Ranking: 29

    WorldCup:
    Appearances 4
Best result Quarter Finals, 1970 and 1978

    Now let’s look at Nigeria….

    FIFA Ranking: 63
    ELO Ranking: 45

    WorldCup:
    Appearances 4
    Best result Round of 16, 1994 & 1998

Yeah, way to show the world how uneducated you guys can be.

  14. Some people are saying keshi should use proffessional players. Which league do they play in and what their ratings in the world. We always used proffesional & what happened. We are not just good enough at the senior level period. And u expect the so call proffes to listen to keshi. U must b out of your mind. We say the same every nations cup or WC. Nothing changes. As a nigerian, I dont expect too much from any nigerian player. We are only as good as the last performance. A country of 155million cant even produce 22 players. U think about it. Nigerians like watching the premiership. England also have the same problem.

  15. i stil lv nigeria but we needs to b very careful bcos of all dis nuisance ball dt our players is playing.

  16. Nigeria lost because they weren’t good enough, and that’s the only reason why. You don’t see Peru at World Cup events because CONMEBOL is probably one of the most competative federations in the world. With strong teams such as Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, there is little room for other teams. Just look at their FIFA rankings…. Peru-36, Nigeria, 63.
