Stoke City 1-0 Manchester City ( Crouch goal vs Man City 58′)

From outside the area from around 25 yards out, Crouch unleashed an unstoppable volley after the ball was headed down by Jermaine Pennant. The goal effort surprised City keeper Joe Hart, but there was little the England No.1 could do to stop it from going in.

  1. Contender for goal of the season surely?

As good as RVP’s volley against Everton and Rooney’s against City last season

  2. this feels surreal coming from the boots of crouchy

    WHAT A GOAL

Abby must be really proud today 😛

  3. I was right behind the goal – i found it breathtaking then and it still has not lost any impact when I watch it again

  4. Lucky ? You idiot what are you on . Thats what you call lucky Manchester City’s goal , a delection . Manchester would have not scored if they were still playing now .

  5. OMG what a Goal. City they are losers Up Up United. This Goal is by far goal of the year and I’m gone vote for you to win Goal of the Year Award. Sensational

  6. To Rob and Geoff, there’s no shame in admitting that it was a lucky goal. Obviously there’s plenty of skill involved, but it could easily have ballooned over or wide, or he could have miscued it completely. The luck came in the fact that it landed just at the right place on his boot. The fact that there was luck involved doesn’t diminish its brilliance in any way.

  7. To Peter

You should be ashamed to have included the word “lucky” in describing this goal.

You could claim he was fortunate a strong gust of wind didn’t blow it off the trajectory he purposefully hit it, after skilfully setting up his own volley.

But that would make you a prat.

  8. unbelievable goal. Ask any professional football if that was a lucky strike and he would laugh(I would hope). A goal like that needed technique, volleying the ball is an art. It requiired precision because no other trajectory would have worked and the most important thing was belief….how many players would have carried out the execution. Because it was Crouch some people say it was lucky if it was Messi it would have been proof he is world class(which Crouch isnt by a country mile). I agree Black Rabbit, to re iterate your point its like saying for one of the goals Messi scored two weeks ago where he chipped the keeper he could have kicked the ground and stubbed his toe mmmmm very strange …WHU supporter so completely unbiased we (definately our strikers) arent in the same league l
