David Villa Leg Injury 2011- Barca forward breaks leg against Al Sadd in Club World Cup

David Villa Leg Injury Al Sadd

Spanish striker David Villa is likely to be out for a lengthy spell ( see Villa leg injury video below) on the sidelines after breaking his leg in Barcelona’s Club World Cup semifinal against Qatari outfit Al Sadd. Villa suffered a fractured tibia while trying to convert a long pass in the first half. He was stretchered off and was replaced by Alexis Sanchez.

What does this mean for the rumour mills in January?

With Villa’s leg injury, all talk of him moving to England because of him being unsettled at Barcelona ends. Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been linked with him, especially the former two.

Will Villa be fit for Euro 2012?

This is unclear. But initial estimates are that Villa will be out for atleast six months, which means that he is unlikely to feature in Spain’s Euro 2012 squad.
