Video- Jay Spearing red card vs Fulham 2011 December Sent off Moussa Dembele challenge

This Jay Spearing red card vs Fulham ( see video below) saw Liverpool reduced to ten men in their Premier League fixture against Fulham on 5 December, 2011. Spearing’s red card against Fulham cost the Reds dearly as the Cottagers won 1-0 thanks to Clint Dempsey’s late goal.

Spearing’s red card against Fulham came in the 72nd minute on the game. He won the ball but the momentum saw him catch Dembele’s legs with his studs.

  1. i have seen worse tackles at a sunday morning league game go unpunished for what spearing did, yes he caught him on follow through and looked sore but won the ball clearly, the art of good solid tackilng is no more it seems. people fail to mention liverpool’s perfectly disallowed goal (hangeland kept suarez onside, benefit of the doubt to the attacking player i always thought). it seems team captains have no role in on field matters anymore. surely the ref has to take some account of their actions and in a gentlemanly manner speak with team captains 1 on 1 when it comes to big decisions

  2. Never a red card. If anyone knows anything about football then they should see via common sense, that that is never a red. Ball first, tough follow through. You cannot tackle in football these days.
