Former Wales manager Gary Speed has been found dead at his home in Huntington, Chester. Speed, 42, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself and the news came as a great shock to the Welsh footballing fraternity, especially as he had appeared in Football Focus on the BBC only yesterday.
Speed was appointed as Wales manager last December and his last game in charge was a convincing 4-1 scoreline for the Welsh national team against Norway.
Speed, who played for Sheffield United, Leeds, Everton, Bolton and Newcastle, earned 85 caps for Wales as a player.
Speed, an MBE in 2010, is survived by his wife and two kids.
No official reason seems to have emerged yet as to why Speed committed suicide.
