Eight of Mexico’s soccer players have been sent home from the 2011 Copa America after they were caught on television cameras bringing prostitutes into their hotel room in Quito, Ecuador. One of the eight Mexican players involved in the scandal is Jonathan dos Santos, the young Barcelona starlet who is the brother of Giovani dos Santos.
The other seven Mexican soccer players involved in the scandal were Israel Jimenez, Nestor Vidrio, Marco Fabian, Jorge Hernandez, Javier Cortes, David Cabrera and Nestor Calderon. They, like dos Santos, have been sent home and have been slapped with a $4,100 fine.
The replacements for the eight suspended Mexican soccer players will be Kristian Alvarez, Antonio Gallardo, Edgar Pacheco, Alan Pulido, Emilio Orrantia, Ulises Davila, Diego de Buen and Oswaldo Alanis.
This is the second time in less than a year that the Mexican soccer team has been involved in a prostitution scandal, with five players caught last September after a fixture against Colombia.
