Sky Sports and ITV have bagged the rights to telecast the Champions League for three more years. The new Champions League TV deal begins in the autumn of 2012, when the current deal expires, and will carry on till 2015. Reports estimate that Sky and ITV will pay a little under £400m for this three year TV deal ( slightly lesser than the current amount they pay)
Sky will reportedly shoulder around 60% of the £400m bill, ( around £240m), with ITV picking up the rest of the tab ( around £160m)
In a slight difference from the current deal, ITV’s single first choice match will switch from Wednesday night to Tuesday.
