Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson has deleted his Twitter account barely two hours after signing up to the social networking site.
Gibson’s Twitter username was Dgibbo28 ( set up around midday on April 25, 2011) and he was welcomed on to the site by United defender Rio Ferdinand ( Twitter @rioferdy5). However a barrage of verbal attacks from Manchester United fans, some of which are reproduced below forced Gibson to delete his account in under two hours.
Anti Darron Gibson Tweets
“Dgibbo28 hasn’t tweeted yet. Seems somewhat fitting after the countless anonymous performances we’ve seen from the ‘footballer’.”
“@dgibbo28 your performance on saturday was one of the worst I’ve ever seen of any utd player. scared of the ball much?'”
@dgibbo28 team do all hard work keeping possession then u hit row Z every fuckin time!!
However United fans have launched a campaign to get Gibson back on Twitter, with users tweeting with the hashtag #getbackgibbo.
