Liverpool have signed a new kit sponsorship deal with Boston based Warrior Sports that will see the US based kit maker replace Adidas as the maker of the club’s strips from the 2012/2013 season. The new Warrior Sports Liverpool kit sponsorship deal is reportedly worth £25m a year, apparently twice what Adidas were paying the Reds. Liverpool’s new kit sponsorship deal with Warrior Sports is for the next six years.

Warrior Sports are actually based in Warren, Michigan, but they are a subsidiary of New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc, who are based in Boston, and who supply kits to the Boston Red Sox ( Red Sox are owned by Fenway Sports Group who also own Liverpool).

Warrior Sports are better known for making Lacrosse kits than football ones, and this deal with Liverpool will represent its first major foray into soccer. This Liverpool Warrior Sports deal is the biggest in English football and is a record for a Premier League club. The previous kit deal was with Nike, which reportedly pays Man United £23.5m a year.

According to estimates, Liverpool sell the fourth highest number of shirts in world football, with only Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid selling more.

The deal leaves Adidas with only Chelsea as the major club in its Premier League kitty, with Arsenal and Man United using Nike and Man City using Umbro. The news of the new Liverpool kit sponsorship deal with Warrior Sports means that the new Liverpool away kit 11/12 was the last release for LFC from the Adidas stable.

Ian Ayre, Liverpool’s managing director, had this to say

This is another landmark deal for Liverpool Football Club and once again shows the value of the club’s brand globally

Richard Wright, GM of Warrior Sports, said that they were there to “shake” up the world of football.

  1. I am sOoooo dissapointed at losing the 3 stripes frm Addidas , forget the money LFC are getting paid what about the looks , this comapny has never ever made soccer kits before , so guys prepare urself for sum serious drubbing frm other supporters , im really worried , Addidas makes for da best teams in da world ,why move to sum1 who had no clue bout soccer !

  2. Looking forward to seeing the new kits from Warrior, the owners know what is required and will have enough advice about what Liverpool fans like and do not like. I am also sure we will let them know what we think.

  3. Very very disappointed that LFC are losing their sponsorship with adidas… No one makes better kits than the adidas brand, and now its going to look like we are walking around with fake kits because no one will even know what “Warrior” is… Its not about the money its about being proud of the appearance of your kit!! LFC for life….

  4. Are you guys serious? You would rather get paid £12m and wear Adidas than get paid £25m and wear a decent looking shirt? King Kenny needs all those extra millions to waste next year, any income is good and not something to get your backs up over.

  5. Another clueless decision by clueless owners were r not an American team u fags! Stop turnin us in a laughing stock! You know what happens to owners who take the p*ss they get removed from the club! Don’t like the new design I think it makes liverpool look like a lacrosse team in the prem! Changing from addidas to ??monster?? Is a disaster! If people don’t like the look of it, it won’t sell! So there for monster can pay us as muck as they want, but if people don’t buy it no renevue no kit sales = major loss! Not a smart move from these dumb owners! They gave Boston red !cox!200m for three players swingin a bit of wood!n they want to give us 20m for transfer window!?!?!? Hold on! We’re bigger than the red cox, so if they can throw 200m away then they ca throw another 200m to liverpool for transfers! 20m won’t cut it! Those thick owners no that! And so much for doin something about the stadium plans like they said they would! Another Gillette & hicks here! U’d of thought we’d learn r lesson! Out the yanks!

  6. i liked the adidas kit, but i love the fact that new balance is related to warior. I would strongly suggest a much better designed shirt.
