Game kicks off at 16.00 South African time.
England 1-4 Germany ( Full time)
A young German side beat England 4-1 in the City of Roses to set up a quarterfinal meeting with either Mexico or Argentina.
Goal update:-
England 0-1 Germany ( Miroslav Klose goal)
German keeper Manuel Neuer kicks the ball upfield and Miroslav Klose takes advantage of some sloppy defending from John Terry and Matthew Upson to open the scoring for Germany.
England 0-2 Germany ( Lukas Podolski goal)
Stunning team goal from Germany. England are caught napping by Miroslav Klose’s pass to Thomas Muller, who unselfishly chooses to pass to Podolski instead of shooting on his own. Podolski does the rest, and it is 2-0 to Germany.
England 1-2 Germany ( Matthew Upson goal)
Steven Gerrard’s cross is met by Matthew Upson, who atones for his earlier error by pulling one back for England.
England 1-2 Germany ( Frank Lampard disallowed goal)
Whispers of 1966 again. Frank Lampard’s strike clearly crosses the line, but no video technology from FIFA means that Germany remain 2-1 ahead in Bloemfontein.
England 1-3 Germany ( Thomas Muller goal)
England are hit on the counter as Muller and Schweinsteiger exchange passes before the former smashes one in to beat David James at his near post.
England 1-4 Germany ( Thomas Muller goal)
Another wonderful piece of counter attacking football from Germany. Ozil’s the creator on this occasion.
England starting XI against Germany:- James, Johnson, Upson, Terry, Cole, Milner, Barry, Lampard, Gerrard (C), Rooney, Defoe
First time in Fabio Capello’s reign that he has played the same England team in two successive games
Germany starting XI against England:- Neuer, Lahm (C), Freidrich, Mertesacker, Boateng, Schweinsteiger, Khedira, Muller, Ozil, Podolski, Klose
It is now obvious to even the most diehard English Football supporter that the national program need to be re-evaluated. For far to long now the Three Lions have gone into the World Cup with high expectations only to under achieve again.
With the huge talent pool to draw from there is no excuse of lack of quality players, it must be concluded that the preperation is just not in place.
England got messed up. Even if they got that second goal I dont think it would of been enough to get them through. They simply werent good enough this time around.
Seemed as if they didnt even want to play the whole tournament.
Holland must be win championship
