Ipswich Town defender David Wright is looking for a new club after being told by boss Roy Keane that he was surplus to requirements at Portman Road.
Wright has not been able to cement a starting place in Keane’s lineup, but was hopeful of being handed a new deal by the club after starting Ipswich’s last two games.
Wright told the Ipswich Evening Star: “It has come as a shock and I’m devastated.
“I thought I’d done enough to be offered a new deal.
“I saw the manager on Tuesday and he said some nice things about me, but that he was looking in a new direction.
“It is not a decision I agree with, but I have to respect it.”
