The final score at White Hart Lane on November 22, 2009 would have made for sorry reading if you were a Latics fan- Tottenham 9-1 Wigan. Spurs lead 1-0 at half time, but pumped in eight more in the second half to crush Wigan. Jermain Defoe scored five goals, joining Ted Harper, Alfie Stokes and Les Allen as the only other Spurs players to have scored five in a game. It is Tottenham’s biggest ever top flight win, and needless to say, Wigan’s heaviest ever defeat in the top flight. The last time a team pumped in nine goals in the Premiership was in March 1995, when Manchester United crushed Ipswich 9-0.
Final full time score :- Tottenham Hotspur 9-1 Wigan Athletic ( Peter Crouch 9′, Jermain Defoe 51′, 54′, 58′, 69′, 87′, Aaron Lennon 64′, Chris Kirland OG 90′, Niko Kranjcar 90+4’/ Paul Scharner 57′)
