All goals highlights from the Sunderland vs Liverpool Premier League game on October 17, 2009, Saturday ( 15.00 UK time Kickoff).
Liverpool are travelling to Wearside without Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres. Liverpool lost their last game 2-0 to Chelsea, while Sunderland conceded an unfortunate late own goal to draw 2-2 against defending champions Manchester United.
By winning, Sunderland have jumped above Liverpool in the points table. As for the Reds, their title challenge seems to be slipping away with every game. Sunderland now have 16 points from nine games, while Liverpool stay at fifteen from nine.
Final score :- Sunderland 1-0 Liverpool ( Darren Bent 5′)
Sunderland 1-0 Liverpool ( Darren Bent 5′ goal/ Balloon Own Goal? )
Bent gives Sunderland the lead at the Stadium of Light with a controversial goal. His shot hits a stray balloon before going in. Liverpool protest saying that the balloon interfered with play, but the goal stands. Should that read Balloon OG? I’m not sure…
Liverpool starting lineup against Sunderland :-
Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Jamie Carragher, Lucas Leiva, Ryan Babel, Fabio Aurelio, Jay Spearing, Yossi Benayoun, Dirk Kuyt.
Sunderland starting XI against Liverpool :-
Craig Gordon, Phil Bardsley, Michael Turner, Anton Ferdinand, George McCartney, Steed Malbranque, Lorik Cana, Lee Cattermole, Andy Reid, Darren Bent, Kenwyne Jones
I have never seen a balloon score a better goal. The Balloon fools the keeper and beats him all ends up. Is this the most farcical moment in football history? More farcical than the Slovakia v Poland game perhaps?
there is no way on planet earth that was a goal, it was clearly deflected off of a ball/ballon that shopuld not have been on the pitch, the referee needs to be shot in the head and in the chest!!
shut it paddy! if you didnt notice it was a liverpool ballon that was in their box with some silly scouser threw on the pitch.the liverpool defence should have dealt with it earlier.goal of the season i think hahaha
If the ballon went in, would it have been 2 nil to Sunderland.
Remember the reds say ‘you will never walk alone’ does that go for balls as well
but if it should count as the a goal the ball was offside so it shouldnt have counted anyways plus the ref should have stopped the game
99 red ballons go by!
