Here are the results from the 2010 World Cup CAF qualifiers ( third round) played on October 11, 2009 ( Sunday)
Benin 1-0 Ghana ( Mohamed Aoudou 90+2′)- Group D
Inconsequential game for the Black Stars as they had already qualified prior to the fixture. However Benin finish second in the group as a result of their win.
Nigeria 1-0 Mozambique ( Victor Obinna 90+3′)- Group B
Three very important points for Nigeria there. They kept their hopes of qualifying alive.
Tunisia 1-0 Kenya ( Issam Jemaa 1′)- Group B
Issam Jemaa’s early goal sees Tunisia beat Kenya at home. The Carthage Eagles will qualify ahead of Nigeria if they beat Mozambique on the next match day.
Mali 1-0 Sudan ( Frederic Kanoute 89′)- Group D
Just seems to be a night for late goals and 1-0 scorelines- doesn’t it? Kanoute’s 89th minute strike sees Mali beat Sudan 1-0 in Bamako.
Guinea 1-2 Burkina Faso ( Mamadou Bah 83’/ Moumoni Dagano 37′, 60′ pen)– Group E
Burkina Faso book their place at AFCON 2010 by beating Guinea 2-1 in Accra.
Algeria 3-1 Rwanda ( Abdelkader Ghezzal 22′, Nadir Belhadj 45+3′, Karim Ziani 90+8′ pen/ Patrick Mutesa 20′)- Group C
Rwanda take a shock lead against Algeria in Blida, but the latter recover to win 3-1. It will now be extremely difficult for Egypt to qualify- they need to beat Algeria by a margin of three goals in their final game to qualify automatically.
