Former Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic defender Ramon Vega has had a bid for Portsmouth rejected by the club’s Russian owner Alexandre Gaydamak.
London based VS Investment Group, headed by the former Swiss international Vega, made a small offer to Gaydamak in exchange for taking over the club’s debt. Pompey are believed to owe around £40m to their bankers. The VS Investment Group has its office in South Audley Street in Mayfair.
Gaydamak, who officially put the club up for sale in December last year, has reportedly rejected the bid and asked Vega to come up with a fresh bid in a week’s time. However sources say that Vega is likely to stick to his stand, and won’t up his bid.
Portsmouth are five points above the relegation zone ( 16th in the table with 28 points) and are currently managed by caretaker boss Paul Hart after they sacked regular manager Tony Adams.
