Chelsea have brought Inter winger Ricardo Quaresma on loan to Stamford Bridge till the end of the season, thereby making him the sixth Portuguese player at the club.
Quaresma, 25, joined Inter last summer from FC Porto for a fee of €18.6m + Pele. However he has found opportunities limited at the San Siro under Jose Mourinho, who said Quaresma ” had to learn, otherwise he would not play.”
Quaresma is Chelsea’s second signing of the winter transfer window after promising Bayer Leverkusen youngster Gökhan Töre.
Quaresma will lend some much needed width to Chelsea’s play. Florent Malouda has struggled at the Bridge while Joe Cole’s knee problem has ensured that he will play no further part in the Blues’ campaign this season.
Is this another opportunity for the talented youngster to revive his career?
We’ll just have to wait and watch.
