Manchester United went three points clear at the top of the table as they thrashed WBA 5-0 at Old Trafford. Four of those five goals came after WBA defender Paul Robinson was sent off by referee Rob Styles, but no one can argue that United did not deserve their win.

Edwin Van der Sar has now gone 1032 minutes without conceding a goal- a Premiership record, beating the earlier one set by Petr Cech ( 1025 minutes)

Luka Modric was in excellent form once again as Spurs beat Stoke City 3-1 at White Hart Lane. Carlo Cudicini made his debut for Spurs in this game. Tottenham were really dominant in the first half, and the score could have easily read 6-0 or 7-0 at half time instead of the 3-0 that it eventually was.

Sunderland 1-0 Fulham

Kenwyne Jones celebrated his new contract with a second half goal that gave Sunderland three vital points against Fulham.

Portsmouth 0-1 Aston Villa

Scorer : Emile Heskey ( 21′)

Emile Heskey scored on his debut for Aston Villa as Portsmouth were beaten 1-0 at Fratton Park. Pompey worked hard to banish the ghosts of their Cup exit at the hands of Swansea away, but were unable to get a point in this fixture.
