Manchester City have been given permission by West Ham to talk to their Welsh forward Craig Bellamy. City and West Ham have agreed on a £14m fee, with £12m being payable upfront and the remaining £2m to be paid in installments.
Bellamy had made his desire to move away from Upton Park clear, and the former Liverpool and Newcastle forward was not included in the starting lineup on Sunday when the Hammers played Fulham. West Ham won that game 3-1.
Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in signing Bellamy, but it seems that City have stolen a march over their north London Premiership rivals.
Spurs’ £14m move for Wilson Palacios is also in danger of not materialising, with the Daily Mail stating that the player would prefer to stay in the North West rather than move his family to London.
This was Mark Hughes’ 5th bid for Bellamy in the winter transfer window.
