Those who watched the Premiership a few years ago could find some similarities between Sweden’s Freddie Ljungberg and England’s David Beckham. Both have short hair, play in midfield, and have captained their national sides. Both have been male underwear models- Beckham has posed for Emporio Armani while Ljungberg has modelled for Calvin Klein. And now, the Swedish winger has followed Beckham to America by signing for expansion team Seattle Sounders.

Wolves 2-1 Swansea – Championship
A brace from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake was enough for Mick McCarthy’s Wolverhampton Wanderers to beat Swansea 2-1 at Molineux on Wednesday night. The result, coupled with 10 man Queens Park Rangers’ astonishing 1-0 win over Birmingham City, ensures that Wolves are back on top of the Championship.
With Richard Stearman turning up late, McCarthy had to play Neill Collins in defence. Michael Mancienne, signed from Chelsea on loan, was on the bench. Ebanks-Blake struck his first with a high quality finish on the stroke of half time, but the goal was cancelled out by Darren Pratley in the 49th minute. However the Swans again fell behind as Blake showed his class three minutes before the hour mark, heading home from a Carlos Edwards cross.
Tony Adams is new Portsmouth manager
Days after the departure of Harry Redknapp to White Hart Lane, Portsmouth have appointed former Arsenal centre half Tony Adams as their new manager. Adams’s first game in charge of the South Coast club will be against league leaders Liverpool on Wednesday night. Adams has formerly managed Wycombe Wanderers and was assistant manager at Portsmouth for the past two years after taking over the position vacated by Kevin Bond in June 2006.
