Struggling French club Stade De Reims have appointed former French midfielder Luis Fernandez as their manager. Reims are currently at the bottom of France’s second division ( Ligue 2), with only twelve points to show for their efforts from eighteen games.
Fernandez, part of the magic square of French football in the 80’s along with Alain Giresse, Jean Tigana and Michel Platini, has managed Paris St.Germain, Athletic Bilbao, Real Betis and Beitar Jerusalem in his 15+ years in football management. He led PSG to the 1996 European Cup Winners Cup, thereby becoming the first French manager to win a major European trophy.
Fernandez replaces Didier Tholot in the Reims hotseat, and has reportedly agreed to sign a 18 month contract.
