According to this report in the Mirror, Mark Hughes and Man City will have to cough up a minimum of 18 million pounds if they are to bring Paraguyuan international Roque Santa Cruz to Eastlands in January.
Santa Cruz, who excelled at Rovers under Hughes last season, has not quite had the same impact at Ewood Park this season, but is still high up on Hughes’ winter shopping list. He scored his first home goal of the season recently against Liverpool, and that was a bit delayed given the quality we’ve come to expect out of him.
Man City have been linked to a host of other strikers, including former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry. They are perilously close to the drop zone, and Hughes will be looking for reinforcements to steer them up the table soon.
