A late goal from Daine Klate helped 10 man Supersport United post a 2-1 win over Thanda Royal Zulu at the Mpumalanga stadium in Hammersdale.
Defender Ricardo Katza scored his second goal in as many games to give Matsatsantsa the lead in the fourth minute. Thanda, who lost to AmaZulu by a goal last weekend, responded through Nigerian winger Felix Obada. Bernard Parker’s excellent run down the left flank created the goal for the home side.
SuperSport were then reduced to 10 men in the 33rd minute as Fikru Lemasse was sent off for a stamp on July Mahlangu. Referee Jerome David had no choice but to give the Ethiopian striker the marching orders.
Thanda then pressed for a winner, as SuperSport sat back and defended. However it was SuperSport who had the last laugh, while Daine Klate firing home from a rebounded free kick after Siyabonga Mfeka had headed it away.
Gavin Hunt would have been a satisfied man, and the result takes SuperSport to the top of the ABSA Premiership.
