Chelsea are reportedly planning a swoop for Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho. The Brazilian international is contracted to Barcelona till 2010, and allegedly has a 85 million pound buy out clause in his contract ( All Spanish football contracts have a minimum fee release clause)
Barcelona have established themselves as one of the best footballing teams on the planet in the last few years, and a major reason for that is the presence of Ronaldinho in their side. The Catalans are a formidable attacking outfit- look at the Ronnie Etoo Messi combo :D. And with the arrival of Thierry Henry from north London this summer, an already potent striking force has just got better. Would Ronnie want to leave the Nou Camp at such a time? He will also not forget how Hernan Crespo and Andriy Shevchenko, two renowned strikers, struggled at the Bridge in their initial months. Sheva is still at the club, but Crespo is currently in Italy. Add to that the fee that it would take to bring him to Chelsea, and the fans will be expecting quite a bit from him. If he does not perform, gossip will slowly start about him leaving the Blues. That is what happened to Shevchenko last season… right ?
And South Americans have never adjusted to the Premiership. Barcelona and Chelsea have different styles of playing. Chelsea are masters of the 1-0 strategy, and do not play with as much flair as the Spanish team does. Will Ronaldinho force a change in the team, or will the change occur in him?
