Ronaldo wants to stay at Manchester United

Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly said that he wants to stay at Manchester United for many years.

The news will, I hope, atleast temporarily put to end the endless rumours that he will be going to the Bernabeu or the Nou Camp when the summer transfer window opens.

I have seen my Man U fans praying that he doesn’t leave OT. A bit funny, since it was not too long ago that every Red Devil wanted to see the back of him after the England Portugal clash. The rumours of whether or not he will move to Spain have eaten realms of newspace-

The reasons for him to go to Spain are good- a warmer climate, less language problems to name a few. The Premiership is also a very physical league, but he has adjusted well and has improved by leaps and bounds ever since he first made his debut as a kid against Bolton.

Also, as long as Carlos Queiroz remains at United, he has a person who speaks his language, a person to whom he can turn to when needed. He is probably in the form of his life for United, and for some people, is the best player in the world right now.

Sir Alex wouldn’t want to sell a person who is now such a pivotal part of his rebuilding process. Unless,of course, he starts to make outrageous demands, and we all know what SAF does to such people:D. He is contracted to the club till 2010, and United are trying to extend it by another two years.

And if some reports in the press are anything to go by, he is reportedly dating Gemma Atkinson. A move to Spain might kill that relationship, won’t it ?

Ronaldo has his best years ahead of him, and it will take him sometime to settle down in Spain. The time might be lesser than what it was in England, but now with England emerging to be such a force in European soccer ( 3 teams in the last eight of the Champions League, Spain has only Valencia), it might be in his best interests to stay put in England.

Unless he hands in a formal transfer request, I don’t see him going out of Old Trafford, not in the foreseeable future.
