Arsenal striker Thierry Henry will be out of action for the rest of the season after damaging his groin and stomach muscles in his side’s Champions League encounter against PSV Eindhoven.
Arsenal, who were dumped out by PSV 2-1 on aggregate, will now have to do without their most prolific goal scorer as they battle for Champions League qualification next season.
Henry has been plagued by injuries this season, and he wasn’t looking very fit on Wednesday night. He came on for Julio Baptista in the 66th minute as Arsenal pressed for a second goal which would seal things, and fell to the ground in agony a few minutes later.
Henry has been top scorer in the Premiership since 2001, barring the 2002/2003 season. Arsenal already have Robin Van Persie out for anything between 4 and 8 weeks after he suffered a metatarsal injury in late January.
Henry is expected to be out for three months, and that means he will take no further part in this season’s campaign for the Gunners.
