Fulham 1-2 Manchester United ( Brian McBride/ Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo)
Fulham played out of their skins but Edwin Van Der Sar pulled off some brilliant saves- especially the Davies and Radzinski shots. Radzinski had a header cannon back off the crossbar as United lived dangerously, but Ronaldo’s superb individual effort after running with the ball from the half way line and bringing it into the Fulham box sealed 3 hard earned points for Fergie’s boys.
Liverpool 4-0 Sheffield United ( Robbie Fowler *2, Sami Hyypia, Steven Gerrard)
Robbie Fowler’s only goal of the season before this game came against the Blades, and today, he converted two first half penalties to add to his tally. Hyypia scored a rare goal with a left footed shot which deflected off Paddy Kenny, and Gerrard made it 4 from an exquisite Robbie Fowler pass. Javier Macherano made his debut, and Jerzy Dudek was in goal, as Rafa made wholesale changes to the squad which played at the Nou Camp a few days ago.
Charlton 4-0 West Ham ( Jerome Thomas*2, Darren Ambrose, Darren Bent)
Charlton’s commanding win over their fellow strugglers sees them move above their rivals from Upton Park in the league table.West Ham appear to have no passion, no will to play, no teamwork and their performance was absymal…and Curbishley must be feeling the heat.
Watford 0-3 Everton ( Manuel Fernandes, Andrew Johnson, Leon Osman)
Manuel Fernandes with his first goal for Everton, and Watford look set for the drop.
Middlesbrough 2-1 Reading ( Mark Viduka, Yakubu/ John Oster)
Reading were lacklustre, and the Viduka Yakubu effect sees Boro claim full points at their fortress at the Riverside.
Blackburn 3-0 Portsmouth ( Shabani Nonda *2, Stephen Warnock)Â
Tottenham 4-1 Bolton ( Robbie Keane *2, Jenas, Lennon/ Gary Speed)Â
Tottenham need to put in this kind of performance more often. Keane got sent off for handling the ball in the box, but Spurs were in control for most part of the game.
Spurs plan appealing his sending off though.
Wigan 1-0 Newcastle ( Ryan Taylor)Â
Taylor gave away a penalty which was saved by John Filan but the defender scored from a free kick to gain three points for the Latics.
